Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (Australia)

This highly competitive program, established by Australia’s Commonwealth Government and offered to students from developing countries, provides between AUD$6,000 to AUD$7,000 a year to eligible candidates for three years. It’s worth noting that international students will also receive an additional benefit of at least AUD$2,500 per year under this scheme.

The maximum scholarship amount is based on need and is awarded on a first-come first-served basis. In order to qualify, you must have completed at least two years of study towards your degree.

Chevening Scholarship Programme (UK)

This fully funded scholarship is for international students who want to study a postgraduate program at a UK university. Be nominated by your government, complete at least two years of undergraduate degree from a recognized university, have excellent academic record and participate in extra-curricular activities. Value: up to £18,840 (about $25k).

Foreign Languages Flagship Fellowship (US)

The program offers full funding (tuition and living expenses) to support students with strong proficiency in languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Russian who wish to pursue a career in national security. Hays Ambassador Scholarship (US)

This fully funded 4-year program aims to encourage scholars to achieve academic excellence and serve Hong Kong by fostering a shared sense of belonging with local communities. The Cheung Kong scholarship is a means of supporting highly qualified students who come from outside Hong Kong, either residing locally or returning there after completing their studies.

The $2.6 million in funding offered covers all tuition fees, accommodation, medical insurance and travel costs over four years at any one of six participating universities; City University, Lingnan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK), Polytechnic University or the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). Successful applicants receive up to HK$500 per month as living expenses throughout their first year at university.

Cheung Kong Scholars Programme( Hong Kong )

Each year, up to 40 outstanding international students from around the world will be selected to study at Tsinghua University through Cheung Kong Scholars Programme. They will also receive monthly allowances of RMB 15,000 during their two-year Masters course. Full Scholarship: HK$17.5 million per student

Clinton Global Initiative University Fellowship

In 2013, CGI U committed to fully fund a class of Fellows with a total of $10 million over three years. This commitment is an extension of CGI’s long-term strategy to address global challenges by creating a pipeline of talented young people entering public service. Fellows receive $15,000 annually that they can use to further their education at any accredited college or university in the world (renewable up to five years). The application is due March 31.

Arcadia International Fellowships for Women PhD Students (Germany )

This prestigious scholarship is available for international female PhD students at universities across Germany. Awardees are chosen based on academic excellence and their potential to benefit from studying abroad. To qualify, candidates must be citizens of a developing country or have completed a master’s degree outside of Germany within two years of applying.

Candidates should also demonstrate leadership experience and good knowledge of German or English as well as funding options to cover all expenses.

Australia Awards/ Fellowships (Australia )

Annual fully-funded scholarships are offered to applicants from over 30 countries. The length of awards is between 1 and 4 years. In 2017, 40 students were awarded Australia Awards to study at PhD level. Eligibility: Candidates must be enrolled in a full-time research program, they cannot hold any other major award during their tenure of study and they cannot have previously resided in Australia as an Australian permanent resident or citizen.
