What are the top Asian countries?

If you’re planning to apply for a scholarship in Asia, you probably have a few questions:

  • what are some of my best options?
  • Which scholarship is worth applying for?
  • How much should I expect to get paid?

Some of these questions have immediate answers (yes, Japan’s Research Student Program covers your tuition and other expenses), while others will require a little more research. There are several databases available online that list scholarships by country or even region. Most of them include information about specific requirements, deadlines, funding amounts, and so on. However, if there aren’t any relevant scholarships that fit your needs or qualifications, don’t worry—there is still hope!

Why do you need a scholarship to study abroad?

It’s because scholarships can greatly reduce your financial burden and make studying abroad a reality. Although many scholarships are competitive, that doesn’t mean you should skip applying for them. According to our estimate, only one-third of applicants receive a scholarship (about 35%).

Even if you don’t win, though, it can still be worthwhile to apply. Since most programs require foreign students to have proof of funding before they accept admission, winning or losing is less important than simply being prepared with all of your application materials. Keep reading—we’ll cover some valuable tips on how to make your applications stand out so that you don’t miss out on opportunities next year!
