The University of Sussex is offering the Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship to students commencing their studies in September 2024. This tuition fee scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition fees and provide £1,000 per year to help with living costs whilst studying at The University of Sussex in England, UK. This scholarship is open to all students worldwide and will be awarded based on merit and need, with an academic component worth up to 50% of the overall scholarship and an additional component worth up to 50% that will be assessed on financial need (based on the information provided in your application).

About Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship
In light of our continuing success in world rankings, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering Chancellor’s Scholarships worth £5,000 each to incoming full-time international postgraduate students who have been ranked in either first or second place at the undergraduate level. These scholarships cover both tuition fees and provide a stipend that will cover living costs.
This means you will be able to study at Sussex on some of our most competitive courses with no UK student loan and no need to apply for financial support from outside bodies (for example your home government). If you are successful, your accommodation costs may also be covered depending on your individual circumstances and availability; if you require accommodation as part of your scholarship funding please discuss it with us during your application process.
Eligibility Criteria for University of Sussex Scholarship 2024
- All applicants will be considered, regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disabilities
- we welcome applications from people with disabilities and welcome applications from mature students, who have taken time out of education to raise families and other caring responsibilities
- Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship particularly encourages applications from those with non-standard entry qualifications including mature students and those applying through an alternative route, such as self-funded study and part-time study.
- Candidates must be over 21 years old on 1 September 2024 (not necessarily on the application).
- Applicants must have achieved a 2:1 degree to be eligible for funding through our standard awards process.
- They should also expect to achieve around 60% overall at the Masters level.

Apply by 30 May 2024 at 13:00 GMT. This deadline is valid only if you apply to begin your program in 2014–25 (September entry). If you apply to begin your program in 2024–25 (September entry), see further information below: Apply before 1 February 2024 at 13:00 GMT. After that date, late applications will be considered until 1 March 2024 at 13:00 GMT.
Late applications submitted after these dates will not be considered by our admissions team and we cannot guarantee that your application will be looked at before deadlines for other funding competitions such as departmental awards or foundation scholarships etc., which could limit your opportunity to receive any such award whilst also receiving a Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship.

How to Apply for Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship 2024
These Scholarships are open to all international and home/EU, UK degree-level applicants applying to start postgraduate taught programs on any Sussex campus. Applications will be considered based on academic merit (as determined by your undergraduate grades), together with any other factors, such as social or economic disadvantage.
Previous career experience and extracurricular activities that are important to you, that might make you stand out from other applicants. In addition, you will need to provide a reference from an academic referee if your application is shortlisted for an interview; references from employers or supervisors will not be accepted.
